Manchester United dominated Partizan Belgrade 3-0 at Old Trafford, to enable United to qualify for the next round of the Europa League.

United going forward put on their best display all season, with goals from Greenwood, Martial and Rashford sealing the victory for the English side.

Manchester United looked a different side in comparison to their performances so far in the season, with it being the first time United have scored two first half goals since January.

At first Marcus Rashford’s finishing made it seem like it was going to be a long day for United, but goals from Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial put United 2-0 up at half time.

Greenwood broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute where he calmly shifted the ball onto his left foot and powered the ball down the middle of the Partizan goal.

Martial’s composed finish doubled the home sides lead-the Frenchman darted past a couple defenders and he tapped the ball past the sliding Partizan goalkeeper Stojokovic, making it his 5th goal in 9 matches for the season.

United carried their momentum in the second half and Marcus Rashford struck the ball into the roof of the net in the 49th minute to make it 3-0.

Defensively Manchester United were solid as Romero had little to do all game with the home sides defence martialling out any kind of threat that Partizan created.

3 goals and a clean sheet-excellent way to bounce back after their poor performance in the 1-0 loss to Bournemouth last Saturday.

Much improved United Performance

United had 7 shots on target and they showed their fans that they have the quality to beat sides early on, but also, that they’ve got the awareness to be sensible and deny the opposition of ever getting back into the game.

“We needed a win, but we needed a performance where the boys played forward and scored more than one goal,” said a delighted Solskjær.

“We should’ve buried it in the first 10 minutes!”

Mason Greenwood made his third appearance in the Europa League this season, and the 18-year-old made a terrific impact scoring his second goal in the competition.

“He’s done very well…the goals will always come,” said Marcus Rashford when asked about Mason Greenwood’s performance.

McTominay future captain material

Scott McTominay is proving to Ole Gunnar Solskjær and to the fans that he has the ability to become a future captain for The Red Devils.

He controlled The Red’s midfield tonight and has done so in the past fixtures of late, and with United going through a stage of regeneration, there isn’t a better time to put your name in for contention of the armband.

In his 14 appearances this season, McTominay has 2 goals and an assist to his name, but he brings much more than the occasional goal or assist to United’s game.

For a few years United have lacked a leader keep the side concentrated and organised.

But lately the Scotsman has taken the initiative and stepped up, which you wouldn’t expect from a 22-year-old with only 61 first team appearances under his belt.

In recent matches against Bournemouth and Norwich, you can see McTominay order players to get into position and has not been afraid to voice his opinion to his teammates-

Ashley Young are you taking notes?

Man of the Match- Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

He scored one goal tonight, but Rashford could’ve easily gone home with a hattrick tonight.

He looked a menace all game, and was influential when United looked to add more goals to their name with a high 91% passing success to his name-now can he build on from his star performance against Brighton this weekend?

What’s next for both sides?

Manchester United play hosts to Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday with the game kicking off at 2pm, and Partizan Belgrade face FK Indija on Sunday as well in the Serbian SuperLiga.
