Everton’s midday clash against Arsenal finished goalless in a disappoint draw in the Premier League.
With the game being Duncan Ferguson and Freddie Ljungberg’s final match in charge of their respective teams, it would have been frustrating for them watching their players make so many mistakes.
New managers Carlo Ancelotti and Mikel Arteta were in attendance to witness their new teams for the first time; however they were sat in the stands rather than the dugouts.
In his last game in charge, Ljungberg fielded a youthful Arsenal side against Everton with six of his starting eleven either twenty-three or younger.
There weren’t many chances created from either side, with even fewer on target-the home side didn’t even register a shot on goal, where as Arsenal only achieved two strikes on target.
Veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stole a great chance from teammate Emile Smith Rowe, after intercepting the pass intended for the young winger and poorly connecting with his strike on goal.
Everton interim manager Ferguson substituted a substitute for the second league match in a row-Moise Kean came off after 18 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Manchester United and Cenk Tosun after 69 minutes today.
The goalless draw for Arsenal meant that the London side ended their dreadful run of 15 games without a clean sheet.
Former Everton forward Ferguson ended his interim manager role with an unbeaten record from 3 league games (one win and two draws).
Arsenal interim coach Ljunberg finished his spell in charge of his former club with a win percentage of 16.67% in all competitions (one win, three draws and two defeats).
Man of the match: Callum Chambers (Arsenal)
Callum Chambers proved to new boss Arteta why he should start at the back for The Gunners.
Chambers was solid and aware throughout the game, and even made a terrific block where he threw himself at the shot from Richarlison.
It was Chambers’ 100th appearance in an Arsenal shirt and, after 7 aerial battles and 88.5% passing accuracy, it was one of his best for the away side.
